Fyvie Castle - National Trust for Scotland

Overview

This magnificent fortress in the heart of Aberdeenshire is an imposing example of Scottish Baronial architecture. William the Lion was at Fyvie around 1214 and later Robert the Bruce and Charles I were among its royal guests. Inside the Castle, the rooms are filled with antiquities, armour and lavish oil paintings.

Imposing 800-year-old fortress, with Raeburn portraits on the walls and wildfowl in the loch.

Admire the impressive portrait collection, including works by Raeburn, Batoni and
Gainsborough.

Ghosts, legends and folklore are all woven into the tapestry of Fyvie’s 800-year-old history.

Outdoors the grandeur continues, with a picturesque lake and an unusual glass-roofed racquets court and bowling alley.

Enjoy a walk with family and friends around the beautiful grounds.
